Note: The 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, raised public awareness of the dangers posed by the high proliferation of plastics and other non-biodegradable waste materials. The summit set a target “transforming our world; 2030 Agenda for sustainable development”.

Precisely in article 12.5, they expect member states to “by 2030, sustainably reduce waste generation through recycling and reuse”. In response to this, the Art for Intercultural Dialogue and Education Department of the National Museum of Unity Enugu launched a public awareness effort in 2018 in this regard. We transform waste into art and hold art exhibitions to promote the idea. To ensure sustainability, we teach children to recycle waste into art.
