Note: Teaching aid for visually impaired People with disabilities have difficulties experiencing the Museum fully in Nigeria. Recollect the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (specifically goal number 10) seeks "to empower and promote the social inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, economic or other status".
The International Council of Museums ICOM code of ethics (2006) forbids exclusion or stigmatization of persons or groups from Museum services and programs on account of race, religion or physical disabilities or social status. In view of the principle of "leaving no one behind", Art for Intercultural Dialogue started producing replicas of Museum objects for the visually impaired and children with autism.
We do this without flouting ICOM guidelines on the production of museum replicas.
Founded in 1998 by Ike Tochukwu Aloysius, Art for Dialogue showcases diverse works by artists from Nigeria’s National Museum of Unity, Enugu. It promotes intercultural dialogue and peaceful coexistence, fighting against discrimination.
Ike bridges traditional Igbo art with contemporary forms, fostering understanding across cultures. Art for Dialogue advocates for inclusivity and social progress through museum education and initiatives aligned with UN SDGs, promoting dialogue through Art and Education.
